Repaying Injustice
Today is Memorial Day in the USA. We remember all of the men and women who have died in the armed forces serving our country. Basically, they died fighting against injustice. They served to preserve our freedom of speech and religion, as well as to ensure our God-given rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Sometimes, they died to help other peoples of the world have the same freedom and rights, too. I am thankful for anyone who is willing to defend what is right and preserve freedom for people, and I hope you are, as well.
David wrote a lot about injustice toward him and other people. He hated it. He spent a lot of time asking God to repay the injustices of society. David did what he could as the king to provide justice for all. However, he realized his power and ability was limited, so God was the only one who could fix these problems.(Psalm 10:14)
As I read the Psalms, it seems there is a double track to solve injustice. First of all, God loves the poor and oppressed. He is on the side of the underdog. He is against the rich and powerful who oppress them. God takes up the case of those in need to protect them and to provide for them. At the same time, God blesses righteousness, and He punishes wickedness in His time and in His way. He does not give a break to the poor and oppressed, if they are wicked. They need to commit themselves to the Lord like everyone else. Then, He will give them His supernatural help.
We all should have the heart of God to relieve the injustices of life for the poor and the oppressed as our service men and women have done. We should call people to the Lord at the same time, knowing He is the only one who can truly deliver them spiritually and physically from the oppressors. Then, we can be assured of His justice for all in the end, since He sees everything, and He is just.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 12-14.
