My Redeemer Lives!

In the darkest time of Job's life as he was struggling to work through each stage of his grief, he made a fantastic affirmation of his faith before his friends. Simply put, Job said, "I know my Redeemer lives!"(Job 19:25,26) Job had a personal Redeemer. Do you?

A redeemer is someone who buys something or someone. Most of the time the word is used to show the deliverance of the person from bondage. Each of us needs a personal redeemer because we all need to be set free from bondage. What is holding you in bondage?

Job knew that he had a Redeemer, who was God. He was confident because he knew his Redeemer had delivered him from his sins. Job had placed his faith in God to forgive his sins. He knew that he was forgiven and one day he would see God, face to face. Job may have even had an understanding of Jesus, because he says that he knows his Redeemer would stand on the earth. We all need a personal Redeemer to take away our sins. Jesus is the only one who can do this, since He died for us, and gave His blood and His life to pay the price to redeem us from our bondage to sin.

However, Jesus can deliver us from any bondage. He is the All-powerful God. He can redeem us from disease like He did for me, when He led the doctors to find my cancer and remove it. He can redeem us from family problems, financial problems, stress, and fear. We have to trust Him as our personal Redeemer, and allow Him to provide His deliverance. Sometimes He doesn't heal us here, but He takes us to heaven. At other times He doesn't give us money, but He gives us a better job. Let's allow Jesus to be our Redeemer and redeem us in His way. That is what Job was doing.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 21-24.
