God's Storehouse Never Runs Out

Have you ever gone to the store only to find that the item you wanted was gone? I am afraid it happens to me pretty often. Yesterday, I went after a specific kind of dog food, and there was none on the shelves. This type of shortage never happens with God's supply. His storehouse never runs out of whatever He needs to supply for us.

Elijah was a great prophet of God, who was sent to tell evil King Ahab that there would be a drought and a famine in the land of Israel until he told him otherwise. There would be no dew or rain, at all. It was a very serious situation brought on by the sins of Ahab and the people who were following false gods.

In the midst of a severe shortage of water and food God fed Elijah by sending ravens to him with meat, and he had the brook Cherith from which to drink for a while. Then, the brook dried up, and God sent Elijah to a widow in Zarephath. God had chosen this lady to provide food for Elijah. When he arrived in town and saw this lady, she was gathering wood to make a small fire to cook the last bit of flour and oil. Then, they would just die. Elijah asked her to make him a small cake first along with one for her and her son, which she did. Once she came with the cake of bread, he announced to her God's provision for her and her family. God would make sure that the flour and the oil did not run out until the rains came back to the land. That is exactly what happened, so they all ate for many days.(I Kings 17:14,15)

What a miracle! What a Savior! God is able to supply whatever we need, and His supply never runs out. We need to trust him as the widow did. Then, we can see Him work miracles for us by sending us what we need out of His storehouse. He never fails.

Tomorrow, I intend to read I Kings 18-20.
