Do Not Fear!

Someone has said that God included 365 "Do not fears" in the Bible, one for every day of the year. I have not taken time to count them, partly because I know that one is enough. When God is on our side, who do we have to fear? Of course, the answer is no one and no thing.

Elisha's servant learned this truth when the Syrian army surrounded them in Dothan. All he could see was the Syrian army, until Elisha prayed for his spiritual eyes to be opened to see God's army. The conclusion was obvious. They had nothing to fear, because the army of God was much bigger than the Syrian army, and it contained horses and chariots of fire.(II Kings 6:16,17)

Until we see the spiritual realm clearly, we will be afraid. The only way to see the spiritual things is by the Spirit of God. Therefore, we must have the Spirit in us and be sensitive to His promptings, or we will miss what is happening around us. The Spirit indwells all who know Jesus as Lord, but even the saints need to allow the Spirit to control them, so they are in tune to Him. He only fills clean vessels, and He never forces Himself on anyone.

I pray this Easter Saturday evening that we will all be able to see the army of God available for our defense and to know the presence of the Spirit who empowers and guides us. It was after Jesus' death and before the resurrection that He went to Hades to proclaim His victory over Satan, sin, and the grave. Then, He took all of the believers from Paradise to Heaven. Satan knows he is a defeated foe, but he is fighting with all his might to destroy as many lives as possible before he is cast into the Lake of Fire. Don't become one of his victims. Trust Christ, follow the Spirit, and you will have nothing to fear for eternity.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 10-12.
