The Ultimate Test
Abraham passed the ultimate test of faith in God. When God called on him to sacrifice his son, Isaac, he did not waver. He obeyed God. The Bible does not even record any hesitation on Abraham's behalf. He simply trusted God.
Abraham put God before his son. In other words, God's will came before his children. If we truly honor God as Lord of our lives, this must be the case. He must come before our children and anyone else in our lives.
Also, Abraham did not argue about Isaac being the son of promise. He was the one born to him when he was 100 years old. It was a great miracle. How would God fulfill His promise if Abraham killed Isaac? Would He raise Isaac from the dead? Abraham did not argue. He trusted that God would do whatever it took. He told his servant that both of them would return, so he must have thought God was going to do something, but he did not know how God would work. That is real faith.
Abraham had faith that acted. He had faith with works. He had faith that put God before everyone else in the world. He passed the ultimate test. I wonder how we would do with the ultimate test?
Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 24-26.
