The Presence of the Lord

When the children of Israel made the golden calf and worshiped it while Moses was still on the mountain with God, the Lord became very angry. He would have killed all of the people and started over with Moses. However, Moses interceded for his people. He urged God to have mercy on them. God is merciful, so He listened to Moses' prayer.

God's solution was a merciful solution. He decided not to destroy all of the people. He would send them up to the land that flowed with milk and honey, but He would not go with them. He was so angry with their sin that He thought He would stay away, so that He did not change His mind and kill them. This was merciful, but it was also unsatisfactory to Moses.

Moses told the Lord that if His Presence did not go with them to the Promised Land, they would not go. They would stay there with the Lord. Once Moses interceded for the people in that way, God relented and promised to go with them.(Exodus 33:14,15) Moses knew that life was empty without the Presence of God.

Have you come to experience the Presence of the Lord in your life. If not, you do not know what life can be like. It is totally different to know Him and to walk in the warmth and light of His Presence every day. I urge you to trust Jesus as Lord and Savior. Then, the Presence of the Lord will abide with you continually.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 35-38
