Pleasing God
Of course, the Bible says that without faith it is impossible to please God.(Hebrews 11:6) What exactly is faith? Faith is trusting God. If we really trust Him, we will do what He tells us to do. That shows that we trust Him. It is real live faith, not just a feeling of some kind. The children of Israel pleased God because they did exactly what He told them to do in building the Tabernacle.(Exodus 39:42,43)
Therefore, when the Tabernacle was all constructed, God moved in to live among them.(Exodus 40:34,35) The people could see His Presence because there was the cloud in the day time and the fire at night. It was a constant reminder that He was there. However, it was more than that. His glory or substance in the tabernacle was so strong that Moses could not go into the Tabernacle at first. He would have been overwhelmed by His majesty and power.
Then, as we read over into Leviticus, we can see how they were to continue to please God by offering their sacrifices in the right way. There was to be no leaven offered with any sacrifice. Leaven or yeast represented sin and how sin spreads. God was meaning that they needed to come to Him with clean hearts.(Leviticus 2:11) Also, every offering was to include salt.(Leviticus 2:13) Salt was a preservative. It reminded the people to preserve the truths of God to pass on to later generations, so they could know Him in truth, too.
Many of us will go to worship tomorrow. Will we be pleasing to God? Will we be able to go into the presence of God knowing we have done all that He commanded us to do this past week? Will we go with clean hearts? Will we be worshiping Him in Spirit and in Truth? It is not how loud we sing or say "Amen." It is how much we trust Him and walk with Him every day. When He sees that, He comes to us in glory and power, and we have a radical experience with the Living God. I pray that will happen for many of us tomorrow.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Leviticus 3-5.
