God With Us
God desires to be with us. Consider what that says about God's nature. He is a personal being. He is love, and He wants to be with us to show us His love. That reality about God sets Him apart from every idol or deity man has invented to worship.
God put Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, and He went down to walk with them each day. They had fellowship with their Creator, because He wanted to be with them. Everything went well until sin entered the picture. However, even the sins of man did not keep God from wanting to be with us.
God made a covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He promised Jacob that He would be with him everywhere he went. He sent Moses to lead the children of Israel out of bondage in Egypt. Then, one of His first instructions for Moses was to build a Tabernacle. The Tabernacle was God with us. He lived in the holy place of the Tabernacle. His Presence was seen going with them in the wilderness by the cloud that led them by day and the fire that led them at night. God was with them.(Exodus 29:45,46)
Later the Temple was built, so God dwelt with His people. Finally, Jesus, Himself, was God with us. He came to be with us. When He left to go back to Heaven, He promised to send His Spirit to live in every believer. The Spirit is God with us. Our bodies are now the temple of God. That is how important you are to God. He longs to be with you.
All of that is true about God's heart to be with us. However, He never forces Himself on anyone. He will not come into your life until you trust Him as Lord and invite Him to come into your life as Lord of your life. Even after you know Him, as Lord, He waits each day to spend time with you. He doesn't force you to walk with Him and talk with Him. He longs for the day that we have the same desire to be with Him that He has to be with us.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 32-34.
