Consecration

Another essential truth for believers to comprehend and to practice is consecration.(Leviticus 8:33,34) Aaron and the priests were consecrated to the Lord and to His service. They actually spent 7 days in the tabernacle as a part of their consecration. In this way they were brought to the place of communion with God and the correct attitude for service.

Many people think that they need to rededicate themselves to the Lord when they really need to be consecrated to Him. The concept of re-dedication involves deciding to try harder to be good and serve the Lord, instead of getting off track. The problem with re-dedication is that no one can serve the Lord in his own power, and no one can get better by trying harder. We always fail when we just grit our teeth and say that we will never do that again, or we will always do the right thing.

Consecration is the answer. We are consecrated to God when we admit we can't live righteously by ourselves. Then, we give ourselves to the Lord fully and ask Him to take us and use us in His power and wisdom. Consecration means to be set apart from the world and set apart to His service. We cease doing things in the flesh, and we allow the Spirit to take control. It is the only way to live the Christian life successfully,

Tomorrow, I intend to read Leviticus 9-11.
