Sympathy

Christmas means Jesus can sympathize with our weaknesses. God who became man has experienced the weaknesses of human flesh in every way, yet He did not sin. The result of His incarnation was now He has a sincere sympathy for our weaknesses.(Hebrews 4:15)

Sympathy means to "feel with." When we hurt, He hurts with us. When we fail, He feels our frustration and disappointment. When we fall, He is there to pick us up. He has a special experiential understanding of being human, so He relates, and He cares on a personal level. What a wonderful Lord we have!

The result of Christ's sympathy for us is that we can have boldness to approach God's throne of grace.(Hebrews 4:16) We can seek mercy and grace without cringing and fearing His anger. In fact, He grants us grace and mercy in loving sympathy with great care for us. Therefore, do not hesitate to run to the Lord when you have a need, especially when you realize your need for Him as your Lord and Savior.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Hebrews 5-7.
