Christmas Laughter and Inspiration

This evening we had our first Christmas variety show at NHBC, which was entitled Ho, Ho, Hosanna. It was a blast. It was so good to see people laugh and participate in the songs and acts. We had a large number of guests who were able to see that we are just "normal" folks who have a good time at church. I believe it will go a long way to relieve the fears of people who have never been to our church or to any church, for that matter.

Our society is suspicious of people we do not know. We have built up fear toward church, because of the terrible things in the news about some Christians and churches. Before we can share the gospel effectively with people who are very skeptical or afraid of us, we have to break the ice. We have to show them we are human like they are. We have to care enough to engage them on a personal level with care and compassion.

It is my prayer that the laughter did people good tonight. I pray that it paved the way for them to listen to the real meaning of Christmas, and even to take the chance on coming to church,

Tomorrow, I intend to read Hebrews 11-13.
