Life More Abundant
Jesus did not come into this world simply to provide for the forgiveness of our sins, as important as that is. He came that we may have life, and that we may have it more abundantly.(John 10:10b) Jesus has a wonderful plan for each of us. He loves us dearly, and He desires for us to have eternal life that is abundant in His blessings. He died on the Cross to pay for our sins and to die in our place, so that we could be reconciled to Holy God. Then, He could adopt us into His family, and we could follow His way, which is that abundant life.
Unfortunately, there is another part of this story and this verse. The thief (Satan) comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy. His aim is to wreck our lives and lead us to destruction. If we listen to him and go his way, we will experience the worst life has for us, instead of God's blessings.
When we read John 10:10 we see that the choice is ours. We "may" have life and have it more abundantly. Jesus did His part. Have you done your part? Have you turned from your ways and your sins, and trusted Christ as Lord of your life? If so, you "may" begin that abundant life with Christ, as you walk with Him.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Luke 4-6.
