We May Be Hearing, but Are We Doing?

Christians are good at hearing the Word of God. Every Sunday when we attend worship services, we hear the Word proclaimed in various ways. Most of the time it is sung, taught, and preached. For the most part it is presented clearly for all to grasp. However, in many cases we are missing one vital detail.

It was the same in the days of Ezekiel. In Ezekiel 33:31 God tells the people that they were coming to hear the Word, but they were not doing it. That is our fatal flaw. The Word is of no effect, if we do not live it out. Ezekiel told the people that they were not doing the Word, because they were pursuing their own gain. I believe that is a huge reason people do not obey the Word, today, too. We are too busy living our own agendas. God can't and won't bless us when we fail to do His Word.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 35-37.
