Independence Day
I pray that you have had a very good July 4th. It is a marvelous privilege to live in the USA and to enjoy our freedoms. I thank God for His providential leadership in the founding of our country and for His protection. I pray that He will continue to bless America.
The most wonderful liberty we can enjoy surpasses the liberty we have as Americans. It is our freedom from being slaves to sin that we receive when we come to know Christ as Lord and Savior. Until then we are slaves to do the wrong things, because we are held captive by the flesh and the Devil. However, when we have a relationship with Christ, we are set free from being slaves to sin, and we become slaves of righteousness. (Romans 6) It is not that we have to be righteous, but we have the freedom to do God's will. We should desire to do the right things because we want to be like Jesus. That is the greatest freedom! The more we are like Christ, the more we are free from the bondage of sin and the flesh. When Christ sets you free, you are free, indeed!
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 132-134.
