God's Inspection of His People
This morning in my Bible reading I found another verse that assures us that God will judge His people. (Psalm 135:14) The reason this verse touched me is that I believe most Christians think that they are exempt from the Judgment since they have already had their sins forgiven. That is not what the Bible says. God will require each believer to give an account of his or her life, and He will take long enough to go over every detail, even every idle word we have said.
The leadership experts tell us the reason for this type of judgment time for God's people. The reality is that "people do what you inspect, not what you expect." We have all seen this truth play out at a job or in our families. If we don't take time to check some-one's work, they will not do it, or they will not do it as well. Herein lies the problem with Christians. Most of them are living like God only expects them to do His will. They do not seem to think that He will inspect their works. All I can say is we better get the word out, because it is not going to be a pretty sight for those who have neglected their service to the Lord.
Psalm 135:14 is encouraging in one way. It says that God will have compassion on His servants. It is clear that He will punish those who do not serve Him or who tried in every way to avoid His service. However, those who tried hard to serve Him, and had the attitude that He was the Master, and they were His servants, He will look on with compassion. Therefore, we should make sure we live to serve the Lord and prepare for the Inspection which is coming.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 138-140.
