Christmas is Love
We had a great time of worship today with our church family. I hope yours was very meaningful, too. Our children did a short play, and our choir did a musical. Both were excellent in leading us to see the meaning of Christmas. In reality Christmas is Jesus, and Jesus is Love, so Christmas is love.
When we remember this truth, it is important for us to ask ourselves about the quality of our love at Christmas and all year. Is it superficial or deep? Is it selfish or unselfish? Are we giving gifts because we are expressing love, or is it just the thing to do? How can we best express our love?
This evening I gave another message on the Mind of Christ at our worship time. We are beginning to go through the fruit of the Spirit as a way of knowing if we have developed the Mind of Christ in our lives. Christ was the perfect example of the fruit of the Spirit, and He wants us to be like Him. Therefore, take the definition of love in I Corinthians 13 and apply it to your love for people. First, apply it to your family. Then, ask yourself if that is the kind of love you have for friends and acquaintances. Finally, be honest with yourself to see if you have that kind of love for those who dislike you and your enemies. I believe that exercise will show us a lot about what kind of love we have.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Daniel 5-7 and II John.
