Prayer Walking
Saturday morning we had our regular monthly Prayer Walking time for our church family. I learned about prayer while walking from our mission trips overseas. It is a regular practice on the mission field, because Satan is in control, and we, as believers, need to use the spiritual weapons to tear down his strongholds, so the gospel can be proclaimed as God's truth in a powerful way and souls can come to Christ. Sometimes, the warfare is intense, as we walk the streets interceding for the precious people for whom Christ died.
A few years ago I realized the satanic strongholds are just as real here in the USA and in Stockbridge, so we started Prayer Walking on the first Saturday of the month. We usually have a small group, but I am praying for our tribe to increase. It is amazing the fresh perspective we get as we go into the community to pray and occasionally share with someone. We are overwhelmed by the masses of people who need Christ. We are reminded that we are His hands and feet to go to them. We are His mouth to share the good news of Jesus. We are moved with the compassion of Christ not only to pray, but to go to them.
I encourage you to begin to practice prayer walking in your neighborhood. I assure you, it will change you, and it will change your area by God's grace and power.
This morning I read Psalms 60-62 and Romans 5.
