The Amazing Specificity of God's Prophecy

We had 15 men this morning as we continued our study of John 19 and the crucifixion of Jesus. During the study we made the connection to Psalm 22 in which many of the events of the crucifixion are foretold with great accuracy. The word Dorsey used this morning was "specificity." That is a fantastic word to describe God's Word and especially the prophecies. Just think that David could hear from the Holy Spirit and record the details of the last hours of the life of Jesus about 1,000 years before Christ was born. Remember, the United States is less than 300 years old. Yet, God told that they would divide the garments of Jesus between them, and they would cast lots for the other garment. That is amazing. It ought to cause us to see the absolute authority and inspiration of the Bible. It should cause us to trust the Lord, because we know we can trust His Word.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 43-44 and I Thessalonians 2.
