A Merry Heart
Tonight is our Faith, Hope, and Love Banquet at NHBC. It is a wonderful time of fun and inspiration. We have a country and western theme, but the goal is to laugh and to think about what is important in life. People sing, and sometimes they do skits. The main thing is to have a good time with our friends and neighbors to show everyone that Christians can have a great time with good clean fun. I am looking forward to it.
I think we need to show the people who are not Christians this side of Christianity more often. They see us when we are negative, or when we are against something, and that sticks in their minds to give them a bad image of Christians. We need to wipe that out of their minds by showing them that Christians are joyful people. In fact, if joy does not characterize our lives something is terribly wrong. Proverbs 17:22 reminds us that a merry heart does us good like a medicine, while a broken spirit dries the bones. Nehemiah tells us that the joy of the Lord is our strength. Therefore, without laughter and joy, we could end up sick and weak.
Let's make it a point to laugh some every day and to allow the Holy Spirit to produce the fruit of joy in our lives. Then, we will be a much better missionary to the people around us.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 29-30 and Matthew 21:23-46.
