Using a Small Number to Win a Big Victory - II Chronicles 13-14 and John 12:1-26

Sometimes we get discouraged or we have a lack of faith in God, because there are more non-Christians around us than Christians. Satan tempts us to think that a small number of believers can't do anything against such a huge number of unbelievers. That is not true. God is always able to win big victories using a small number of people. After all, He is All-Mighty God, and He is fighting for us. Both King Abijah and King Asa won great victories against armies that were twice as big. God gave them the victory, not because of the size of their army, but because of their trust in Him. The same is true today. We might think that we can't do much to change the world for the Lord, because our church is small, and there are so many people around us to influence. We must not allow ourselves to fall into that line of reasoning. We must understand that if we are faithful, God can do anything. The victory is dependant on our faithfulness, not on our numbers.

In John 12 we read about the Triumphal Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem a week before His crucifixion. What was the key to what happened that day? The key was that Jesus raised one man, Lazarus, from the dead. Because He raised Lazarus, many people trusted Him as Lord and Savior. Then, those people lined the streets with His other disciples who had come to Jerusalem with Him to proclaim Him as the Messiah to the whole city. What a fantastic sight! What a bold witness to the world! How did it start? It started with God working in the life of one man. Then, God used that to touch many hearts. That is the power of God to work through a small number to influence a huge number of people. The question is, "Will we be faithful to the Lord and allow Him to use us?" As believers, we can't sit back and watch, we have to get into the action. We have to say, "Lord, use me." Maybe you are the one person God wants to use to begin a great victory. Trust Him and see what happens.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 15-16 and John 12:27-50.
