God's Unlimited Power - II Chronicles 7-9 and John 11:1-29
I am convinced that most of the time we do not believe that God has unlimited power to work in our lives or in the world. Over and over again, the Bible gives us proof of His power, but somehow we have a hard time believing He could or would use it in our lives. I pray that we would repent of this unbelief and begin to see the great power of God.
When Solomon finished the Temple, the fire of God fell on the altar and the glory of God filled the building. God was showing His power in an unmistakable way. The second time God appeared to Solomon, and He gave him that wonderful promise of II Chronicles 7:14, what was He saying? He was affirming His ability to do anything that was needed if His people would turn to Him in repentance and prayer. Then, as we read about Solomon's reign and the visit of the Queen of Sheba, we see the unlimited power of God in Solomon's life. What a testimony to what God can do! The question is, "Do we believe God can do that for us?" I believe He wants us to have that realization. We may not need all of those things for our mission in life, but whatever we need, He can supply it.
The story of Lazarus in John 11 is a wonderful example of this truth. Read it carefully. Jesus waited to go and heal His friend, because He wanted people to believe. When He met Martha, He plainly told her that her brother would rise. What was her response? She knew he would rise in the resurrection of the dead. What was she saying? She believed Jesus could have healed him while he was alive, but she did not believe He could raise him from the dead. In her heart she had put a limit on the power of God. Jesus had come to remove that doubt by raising her brother. What has Jesus done for you to show you His power? I pray that we will we listen to what He is saying and watch what He is doing to show us His unlimited power. Then, I pray that we will pray and live knowing that God can do anything He desires. He can do anything in His will that is right for our lives. Let's not doubt the power of God.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 10-12 and John 11:30-57.
