God Abundantly Provides for His Own - II Chronicles 1-3 and John 10:1-23
We can see the heart of God as He comes to the new king Solomon and asks him what he would like for Him to give him. God is not coming to spoil him with all kinds of frivolous things. He is coming to him to provide what he needs as a person and as a king. God was so pleased when Solomon asked for wisdom and understanding to lead the people. He knew Solomon needed that before he asked, but He was glad Solomon realized it himself. Therefore, He added riches and honor. That is God's heart. He desires to abundantly provide for each of his children. He is a wonderful Father. Therefore, in some cases He can't pour out His great blessings because of our sin or our heart condition, but He always wants to bless us abundantly. I pray that each of us know this aspect of the heart of God, so we can see how much He cares for us.
In John 10 Jesus explains this truth using the illustration of a shepherd and his sheep. Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He has come to give abundant life to His sheep. He speaks to them, and they hear His voice. They follow Him and not another. Therefore, when they follow Him, He is able to lead them to have all of their needs met in a great way. That is what He wants for you today. Are you one of His? Do you hear His voice? Follow Him, and He will lead you to the provisions He has set aside for you. He has many green pastures and glassy lakes for you. He will be there when you go through the difficult times, and He will rejoice with you in the good times. Jesus is there for you.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 4-6 and John 10:24-42.
