August 20, 2006 - Psalms 105-106 and I Corinthians 3

All of our reading today calls for reflection. How much time do you spend reflecting on the past and taking stock of how you are accomplishing God's will. I believe we should stop regularly to reflect on these types of things, so that we stay on track in our lives.

Psalm 105 is a psalm about God's faithfulness to keep His covenant with Israel. (v.8) God never fails to keep His commitments. Think back over your life. Reflect on all of the ways God has taken care of you. Think of the ways He has provided for you. Thank Him for His faithfulness over the years.

Psalm 106 is a psalm about forgiveness. How many times have you sinned, and then, you have asked God to forgive you? Did He forgive you? Of course, He forgave you, because He is a forgiving God. However, did you thank Him for His forgiveness? Did you learn from your mistakes? Take some time to reflect on God's forgiveness in your life.

I Corinthians 3 reminds us that we are to grow in Christ. We are not to remain carnal Christians, but we are to become spiritual Christians. It also reminds us that we will give an account of how we build on the foundation of Jesus Christ. I think this means how we build our personal lives, and how we grow the church family. How are you doing in your growth and in the ministry of your church family? It is good to take time to reflect on this. Don't be too busy, or life will pass you by, and you will have failed to do God's will. Then, the judgment time will not be very pleasant for you at all. (v.15)

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 107-109 and I Corinthians 4.
