August 15, 2006 - Psalms 91-93 and Romans 15:1-13

Where do you live? The psalmist tells us in Psalm 91 that there are many advantages to living in the secret place of the Most High. (v.1) Did you know that we can abide under the shadow of His wings? Yes, it is possible to have that kind of intimate relationship and for God to be our refuge. I pray that you have found that place to dwell. It is very close to God, so it must begin with a great love for Him. Have you set your love on Him? (v.14) There are even more benefits mentioned for those who love Him greatly and intentionally each day.

Psalm 92 goes on to remind us of the blessings of worshiping the Lord morning and evening, not just once a week. (v.2) The result of being right with God is that we will be strong and bear much fruit. (v.12-15) Can your life take the storms of life like a palm tree? Is your life straight like a cedar tree? Do you see constant fruit because of God's Spirit working in and through you? All of these things are possible for the ones who truly worship the Lord continually in all we do.

Psalm 93 speaks of the holiness of God. That is why we can't fool Him. He knows where we are living, and He knows our love for Him. He sees perfectly, and He can't live around sin. We can't be close to a holy God if we are dwelling in sin. Holiness adorns His house. (v.5) Those who live with Him must be set apart from sin. He will give us the power to overcome sin, if we love Him and trust Him. Confess your sins, and draw near to Him.

Romans 15 exalts the desire of God for us to be unselfish, unified as believers, and full of patience, comfort, and hope. (v.5,13) Is that a good description of your life? Do you put others first? Are you living in unity with other believers? Do you have patience and the comfort of God in your heart? Do you live in confident hope of God's promises for the future? That is His will for every believer. If you are missing these things, you need to draw near to Him and ask Him why. He will show you. Then, be obedient and receive the blessings of obedience.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 94-96 and Romans 15:14-33.
