February 20, 2006 - Leviticus 26-27 and Mark 2
These two passages reminded me of the way God leads people to Himself. It is a two pronged approach. When we do good by obeying Him and His laws, He blesses us. When we break His laws, He punishes us. In this way, even a person without a Bible can begin to see God. They know there is right and wrong. God can reveal Himself to them by showing them that He always punishes sin. Then, they can cry out to God in faith for forgiveness. This is basically, what Romans 1 says about God, too. This is why everyone is without an excuse before God.
Read all of the blessings and curses in Leviticus 26 and 27. Look for the spiritual principles behind each one. Then, see if you have experienced these things in your life. I am sure that the terrible living conditions of people all around the world are the result of people rejecting God and following a lie. Even in the developed countries and among the rich in the pagan countries, there is no real joy and contentment. They do not experience the blessing of God, because even though they might not have heard the Gospel, they have rejected God's revelation of Himself through His moral laws.
Then, in Mark 2 it is evident that Jesus cares. He came to be the physician for the sick. Who are the sick? It is not just the physically sick. It is the spiritually sick, He came to save. (v.17) Today, we must have the same mission. We must go to the hurting and show them God's Good News. We must not live by man's false beliefs about God, but by God's Word to us, the Bible.
