June 15 - Psalms 106-108

Can you look back over your life and see how God has been faithful to work in many ways? Can you remember the miracles of God? Can you point to the sins in your past that led you away from God and His blessings? That is what the psalmist is doing in Psalm 106. He is recounting the history of Israel, so that the people will not forget all that God had done for them or all they had done against God. However, in the end God was faithful to bring them back to Himself. He will do the same thing for you, if you will listen to Him.

Psalm 107 has one recurring theme like a chorus in a song. "Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness and for His wonderful works to the children of men." How do you do with thankfulness? Do you remember to thank God for His blessings? Do you live life in an attitude of thankfulness? This psalm is a testimony to the fact that God wants all of us to be thankful for all He does all the time. If we are wise, we will be thankful, and we will then be able to see all God is doing. If we are not thankful, but grumpy and negative, we will miss what God is doing.

Psalm 108 is another psalm of David. He confidently declares that with God's help we can win the victory over our enemies. Who are your enemies? What are your enemies? Do you know that Jesus holds the key to victory? It is not man's help you need. You and I need to trust God for the power to overcome any enemy.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 109-111.
