May 11 - Job 25-28

Bildad makes a very short speech. His point is good. Job has been holding to his righteousness throughout his trial, but "how then can man be righteous before God?" It is sure that no man is righteous before God because of his own works. God is so holy, and man is so sinful. There is no comparison between the two when it comes to being pure and holy. The only way a person can be righteous before God is by grace through faith. God has to forgive our sins and make us holy.

Job's response shows his friends that he understands God and His wisdom. He knows that God created everything and that He speaks by a whisper or by thunder. Job is not saying to his friends that God is evil or that God has done the wrong thing by attacking him with pain and loss. Job is saying that he does not understand why because he did not do anything to cause it. He firmly declares to his friends that he will not put away his integrity as long as he lives. He knows that all wisdom comes from God. He knows that the fear of the Lord is wisdom. Job is not going to forsake God, but he is suffering, and he does not understand why. He knows that God is the only one who knows why. His friends have shown that they do not know at all.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 29-31.
