May 10 - Job 22-24
Eliphaz speaks to Job again. It seems that he is finally coming to hear what Job is saying, but he can't understand. Eliphaz thinks that Job's pain and loss have come from God because of sin. He thinks this because he does not know that all suffering is not because of sin. In fact, he admits that he can't conceive of God doing this because Job fears God, but that is exactly the reason. We all must learn that lesson. God allows pain and loss so that we can grow. Pain is not bad in that way. It can be a friend if we learn from it. It is still very hard, but it is the hard times of life that teach us more, if we listen to God.
Job responds in a way that shows his relationship with God and that he is coming through the grief process. He tells his friends that he knows a righteous man can reason with God. It is just that God has not come to talk with Job about this yet. Job knows that God is just. He is fair. Job wants to speak to Him as he has done in the past. However, he also says that he knows that when the test is over, he will come forth as gold. Job sees that God is up to something. He is testing him. Job knows God so well that he is confident that God will restore him because he has not ceased to rely on God and his word. That is a great testimony. Job did not deny God even in his great loss and pain. I hope we can all have such a great testimony and such a relationship with God.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 25-28. The next day I plan to read Job 29-31. If I can't publish the blog tomorrow, I will try to do it as soon as possible.
