Amazing Prophecy
The death of Jesus was not an afterthought for God, nor was it a time when Satan was in control. God gave His Only-Begotten Son for us, and He was fully aware of all that it would entail. In His goodness He inspired the Psalmist to record exact events in the death of Christ that only God could have foreseen. (Psalm 22:14,17,18) Read them and be amazed!
Jesus hung on the cross as His life was poured out for us like water. His bones were all out of joint, as He had to agonize to push Himself up on the spike through His feet and pull with His arms to bring in enough air to take each breath. His heart was melting because of the dehydration and loss of blood from the whipping and the crucifixion. He was naked before them, and his bones were clearly visible, as everyone stared at Him. Finally, Jesus died, but not before they took His clothes and right before Him, they cast lots to see who would get His seamless robe. What a clear picture of the suffering of our Savior, the Lord of glory!
God includes many prophecies in His Word to prove that it is inspired by the Spirit and reliable to tell us the whole truth without error. We should do more than marvel at it. We should obey it with all of our hearts.
