Wonderfully Dressed by God

I think we all know what it feels like to get all dressed up for a special occasion. I remember going to the prom with Chris. She had her formal dress and I had a tuxedo. We felt very proper and fancy. Then, when we got married, it was even better. We were dressed to the hilt and ready to celebrate our union together. Believe me, it is even better when we are wonderfully dressed by God for life.

Isaiah gave us his feeling about how God had blessed him, and it ought to speak to our hearts today. (Isaiah 61:10) He was greatly rejoicing in the Lord, as his soul was joyful in his God, for God had clothed him in the garments of salvation and covered him with the robe of righteousness, like a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments and as a bride adorns herself with jewels. What a word picture for us today.

Just think, if we know the Lord Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are clothed with the garments of salvation. God has washed us thoroughly from the effects of our sins, and He has dressed us as children of the King for eternal life, which starts as soon as you are saved. Everywhere we go, we should have a heart of rejoicing in this fact. God has given us what we could never earn or deserve, and He gets all of the glory.

He has covered us with the robe of righteousness. He has discarded the filthy robe of our own righteousness, and He has given us the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Now, we can think, act, and talk like Jesus, as we grow in the power of the Spirit. We need to know we are decked out and ready for the marriage feast of the Lamb when He takes us to be His bride. Isn't that a fantastic reality for all of us to realize and live in every day? I believe it is.
