Those with Whom God Chooses to Dwell

 It seems like the rich and powerful of this world want to live in an area with other rich and powerful people. They seem to gravitate toward those who are well known and have similar accomplishments. These are the ones we used to call the "jet set." They could hop on a jet together and fly off to a distant destination on a whim just to spend a few days together. We see these stories in the tabloids and on the Internet all of the time. 

However, that is not how the most wealthy and powerful Person in the universe likes to live. (Isaiah 57:15) God is the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity and whose name is holy. God said, "I dwell in the high and holy place with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones." What a contrast to the ways of this world! It shows us the heart of God and what is important to Him. I believe we need to pay attention to this.

God will be with us and we will be with Him, if we have a contrite and humble spirit. God loves to see us with a heart that is aware of our shortcomings and ready to confess any sins we have. He sees that we are serious about the sins that He hates. When He sees that heart in us, He is ready to revive our hearts and lift us up to be in His presence.

The same is true for those who have a humble spirit. God loves to be with us when we realize that we can't do anything on our own. All we do is done in His power, so we humbly admit that He deserves all of the thanks and glory. When God sees our humility, He is always quick to lift us up, to exalt the humble. Therefore, we will get to hang out with God in the High and Lofty place for eternity, if we will confess our sins, repent, trust Jesus and surrender to Him as our Lord and Savior. God will be happy yo have us dwell with Him then.
