Rebellious People
There are all kinds of people in the world, that's for sure. We find kind people and mean people. There are quiet people, and people who are very loud. There are people who are smart and those who just think they are smart. We have our choice of what kind of people we are going to reach out to and spend time with. Most of the time we tend to reach out to those like us. I wonder how often we reach out to rebellious people?
The heart of God is so compassionate and patient that God reaches out constantly to rebellious people. (Isaiah 65:2) God told the people of Israel that He had reached out His hands to them, even though they were a rebellious people, who walked in a way that was not good, according to their own thoughts. God did that then, and He does it now, because He wants to start a close relationship with all of us, even the rebellious people among us.
We have all met the type of people that God was speaking about in Isaiah. They are very proud. They take their own path, and it is usually just the opposite of the one the Lord says we ought to take. When we talk with them, they are argumentative. It is "their way or the highway." They don't have too many close friends because of their rebellious ways. They are probably very lonely, but too hard headed to change. God loves these people, but do we?
As Christians, we are to be like God. We are to cultivate a godly heart and mind. If God is reaching out to rebellious people, I believe that means we should be doing the same. We should take the initiative to call them, invite them for a meal, engage them in conversation. We should do what it takes to show them that we love them, and God loves them. So, I believe we all ought to prayerfully have a list of rebellious people for whim we pray and who we reach out to on a regular basis because we love them and want what is best for them.
