Being the Most Faithful

Following the Lord is not easy. It is not that it is too complicated or that it takes a lot of intelligence. The challenge to following the Lord is living a life of faith in all things every day. It is a life of faith, trusting Him and not trusting in our own reasoning and abilities. That is a challenge because of our fleshly desires and our pride. However, it is very possible, if we die to self and take up our cross daily to follow Him.

King Hezekiah is an example of a very faithful believer. (II Kings 18:5) He trusted in the Lord God of Israel, so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor who were before him. That is quite a testimony, isn't it? Out of all of the kings of Judah, Hezekiah was the most faithful follower of God. I wonder what others will say about us after we are gone to heaven?

Of course, we do not follow the Lord to be recognized by others. We must not do what we do in an effort to be rewarded for our labors by getting the applause of other people. We are to simply trust the Lord and do what He says, no matter what other people might say, and no matter if they notice us at all. We are to be all about walking with Jesus every day. If no one notices, that is just fine. God will notice.

However, at the same time, we ought to have a holy ambition to be known as a person of faith. We ought to strive to be the best Christian we can be. We must not be in competition with other people. That is not at all what I mean. I just mean that we ought to want to be the best Christian we can be. This will free us to be "all in" for Jesus and to be as much like Him as we can possibly be. If we do that, others will notice.
