And So It Was
We see people making predictions of what will happen in the future all the time. Most of the time those predictions are just "educated guesses," and sometimes the predictions are simply people expressing what they hope will happen in the future, like predicting the outcome of a football game. However, when God makes a statement about what will happen in the future, it is not a prediction. It is a certainty to happen.
That is what we saw happen in King Jehu's family. (II Kings 15:12) The word of the Lord came to Jehu saying that his sons would sit on the throne of Israel to the forth generation. The author of II Kings simply said, "And it was so." In other words what God said would happen did happen, because he and others alive at that time saw it happen. We can count on it today, too. If God said it, He will make sure it happens just like He said it would.
We see this with all of the prophecies about Jesus. There are many prophecies which told the world beforehand all of the facts about Jesus' life and death and resurrection. The Old Testament is full of them, but still people are hard hearted toward believing that Jesus is really God who came to become the God/Man, so He could die for our sins. The fulfillment of so many "predictions" should convince everyone that Jesus Christ is Lord of all.
Now, we live in a time when we could see prophecies come true. Yes, Jesus is coming back again. God has told us this through many prophecies in the New Testament. We better be ready, because it will happen, and it will happen so suddenly it will catch many people off guard. The Antichrist will come, and there will be a terrible time of tribulation on this earth. We need to be ready. It will happen. I could go on and on, but you see what I mean. One day, we will look back and say, "And so it was."
