Being Angry with God

People get angry with God all of the time for all kinds of reasons. Many times their anger is because of something God did or didn't do, and they think that He didn't do the right thing. At least, they are angry because what God did was not pleasing to them. They think that their way would have been better than God's way in that instance. The truth is that God is always right because He sees all and knows all, past, present, and future.

King David is a good example of this. (I Chronicles 13:11) David became angry because of the Lord's outbreak against Uzza for touching the ark. Therefore that place was called Perez Uzza. David got mad at God because Uzza died, but it was David's fault, not God's fault. God had given explicit instructions for moving the ark, but David decided to move the ark before checking those instructions, or he just did it the wrong way.

The same thing can happen to us today. We can get angry with God when the problem is something we caused by not following God's instructions. How many times do we rush into something before we check what the Bible says? How many times do we act before we go to God in prayer? Then, when things go wrong, we automatically turn our anger on God thinking He should have given us some slack.

God is holy. When we sin, He has to punish our sin, or He would be hurting us by condoning sin. That would lead us to sin more and more. He knows that would cause us more and more trouble in our lives. Also, God is love. We shouldn't jump to getting angry with Him. We should know that there must be a loving reason behind His actions. That should lead us to have peace instead of anger.
