A Battle Plan for Life
Life is a great challenge. We all have many obstacles and enemies to overcome. At times, life can be overwhelming if we do not have the right strategy for winning the victory. This is especially true if we try to navigate the storms of life on our own, with no help from anyone else. Of course, we need to depend on the Lord, but He created us with a need for relationships with other people, too.
Joab was the commander of David's army, and Abishai was his brother. They were up against a strong army made up of Syrians and Ammonites. Joab had a good battle plan, and they were successful. ( I Chronicles 19:12) He told his brother that if the Syrians were too strong for him, then he should come help him, but if the people of Ammon were too strong for Abishai, he would come help him. I believe we need a similar plan for our everyday lives.
We need brothers and sisters to help us in our lives. These can be our biological family members, or they can be our brothers and sisters in the Lord. We need to have close relationships where we can depend on each other to be there in times of need. Also, we need to realize that we might get in a bind and need help. We must not be too proud to admit our need and reach out for help.
It might be that we have an enemy that is too strong for us. However, our brother or sister can come along side us and help us overcome that enemy. They might be strong in that area and know just what we need to do to win that battle. The same goes for us and our brother or sister. We can hep them in the areas where we are strong, but we have to be watching out for them and ready to step in at the right time.
