A Good Daily Verse

There are some verses we need to go over every day. We need them to be burned into our hearts and minds. It is part of meditating on God's Word as we are commanded to do. It is abiding in His Word, too.  I have 5 or 6 verses I go over to start my day every morning when I wake up. I pray them to the Lord, and it has really helped me stay on course all day. Just ask God, and He will show you which verses are right for you.

King David gave us a great verse for us to remember and to relish every day. It contains essential truths for all of us as believers. (I Chronicles 16:34) David began with sincere emotion, as he admonished all of us, "Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. For His mercy endures forever." I didn't try to look it up, but I believe these same words are repeated often in the Psalms. Let's take them apart for today.

Every day we should give heart felt thanks to the Lord. We should not do this just one time a day. We should express our thanks all day long, every time God pours out a blessing on us or gives us His power to do His will. When we are thankful, our attitude is right to be used by God and to allow His power to flow through us for His glory. We can always be thankful for God is good. Everything He does is good. It is for our benefit.

Not only is God good, but He is always merciful. Mercy is one of His best character traits. It flows from the fact that He is love. God's mercy is that He never punishes us as much as we deserve. In fact, He is so merciful that He sent His Son to die and rise again for our sins, so we don't have to receive the punishment for all of those things. Also, His mercy endures forever. He never changes His mind and decides not to act in mercy. Therefore, we can and will enjoy God's presence forever as we know Jesus as Lord and Savior.
