Being Led by God
God told Moses and Aaron that He would deliver the children of Israel out of their slavery in Egypt. He accomplished that by sending the 10 plagues on the Egyptians, and finally Pharaoh sent them out. However, that was not the end of God's work in their lives. He was there to lead them every step of the way to the Promised land of Canaan. He does much the same for us, as Christians, today.
God had a unique way of personally leading His people through the wilderness. (Exodus 13:21) The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire, so as to go by day and night. God did not leave them alone. His glory was there in the cloud and in the fire, so His people knew His presence and had His leadership. He is still leading us in a similar way today.
We do not have a pillar of cloud and fire in front of us, but we can be assured that God "goes before" us. There is nowhere we go that our God has not already been there, and He is preparing the way for us as we follow Him. We can't see His form because God is a Spirit, but He manifests Himself to us in many ways. He speaks to us by the Holy Spirit, and we can see His hand leading us through people and circumstances. God never fails us, as we stay close to Him.
God gives us light, like He did with the pillar of fire. His Word is a lamp for us and a light to show us His way. We are so blessed to have the Bible to guide us through this dark world. So God is in front of us, He is surrounding us by His angels, and He is filling us with His Spirit, so we have no need to ever doubt His loving care and leadership as we travel through life on our way to heaven to be with Him.
