Through the Sea to the Wilderness

Life is a journey. It takes us many places. Sometimes, we have mountaintop experiencing, and we think that things couldn't ever be any better. Other times, we find ourselves in the valleys of life, and we wonder when we will get to the other side of the mountains. It is hard, and we can't make it, if we do not depend on the Lord every step of the way.

Moses kept up with the journeys of the sons of Israel as they went from Egypt to the land of Canaan. He wrote down each place they camped along the way. (Numbers 33:8) They journeyed from Pi-hahiroth  and passed through the midst of the sea to the wilderness; and they went three days' journey in the wilderness of Etham and camped at Marah. We can learn from this part of their journey.

God protected Israel from the Egyptian army at Pi-hahiroth by putting His cloud and fire between them. Then, He opened the Red Sea, so they could walk across on dry ground. They reached the other side only to see the Egyptians drowned in the sea when God closed it up. I pray we can all think of times when God protected us and led us away from our enemies safely. What a joy that is!

However, they ended up in the wilderness, because God wanted them to depend on Him for food, water and everything. This was not easy. The first place they stopped only had bitter water, but God made a way. I pray we can all recall the times we have been in the hard times and how God saw us through. It was hard, but we were drawn closer to the Lord. Let's trust God in every high and low of life and see what He does for us.
