Who Is This Man?
We hear all kinds of opinions and beliefs about Jesus Christ. Most people do not really comprehend who He is. Yes, He is still alive in heaven. He is waiting to return to this earth. We need to be ready for His return which could happen at any moment. We must know who He is and trust Him to be ready.
The disciples had a hard time fully comprehending who Jesus was. (Matthew 8:27) They saw Jesus calm the storm on the sea, and they were amazed. They asked, "Who is this Man? Even the winds and waves obey Him." We should be amazed, too, and ponder the greatness and power of Jesus.
The winds and the waves obey Him, because Jesus is the Creator of all things. We read in John 1 that nothing that was made was made without Him. He is Lord over all the universe, and He has been for eternity in the past and will continue to be forever. Yes, He is Savior, but He is Lord first and foremost.
He came as the God/Man to be able to relate to us, live a sinless life, and die on the cross for our sins. Then, He rose again the third day to prove God the Father accepted His sacrifice for sins. He ascended back to heaven, and He is praying for His children. Since that is who Jesus is, all of us need to trust Him and obey Him like the winds and the waves.
