Before We Were Born

Most people are just trying to do the best they can to live a good life and take care of themselves and their families. They find out what they like to do, and they do it. They find a line of work that seems to suit them and to furnish their needs, and they pursue it. However, is that really how it is supposed to work? I don't think so.

God revealed some startling things to Jeremiah when he called him to be a prophet. (Jeremiah 1:2) God told Jeremiah that He knew him before He formed him in his mother's womb. He told him that He had set him apart to be a prophet to the nations before he was born. These truths have a very important message for all of us.

God knows us before we are conceived. In fact, He knows everything about us and what we will do in our life. He can see that because He is outside of time and space. He sees everything all at once, past, present, and future. He wants each of us to repent and come to Him, but He doesn't force us to do that. (II Peter 3:9) Then, based on his foreknowledge He makes plans for us.

God decides which spiritual gifts to give us when we get saved, if He knows we will trust Jesus as Lord and Savior. He plans then what we should do in our life. (Ephesians 2:10) So, life should be asking God to show us His will for us and doing it. It is not just up to us to choose, or we might miss what God designed for us and what desires for us. Let's ask Him every day what He has planned beforehand for us to do, and let's do it in His power.
