Our Sincere Prayer for Revival

How should we pray for revival in our lives and in our churches? We must passionately cry out to God to intervene by His power and wisdom to restore us to His favor. We must be totally honest with the Lord as to the condition of our heart. We must truly want to hear from His Spirit to convict us of our sins that are separating us from Him, so we can confess them and repent of them. We must pray with a ready spirit to do whatever He tells us to do. That was how Daniel prayed for the people of God in his day. (Daniel 9:19) He sought God earnestly to hear, to forgive, and to listen, as well as, to act on behalf of His people for His own sake. After all, His people were called by His name, so when they were out of fellowship with Him it brought reproach to His name, too. I pray that we are willing to pray like this today and to see what God will do.

When we cry out, "O Lord," we are emotionally involved in our prayer. We are not just saying words, but we are in agony until we hear from Him. When we ask Him to hear, we are admitting that He might not have heard our other prayers because of our sins, but now, we need Him to hear us. We ask Him to forgive those sins that have kept us from Him, because we are willing to confess these acts of rebellion to Him. He urge Him to listen and act, because we know there is no other solution to our condition. There is no other way for us to be revived to full life in Jesus. Once we are forgiven, we appeal to our God for His sake to make us shining lights for Him in our world, so we do not bring shame on His name, but we bring glory on His name, instead. This should be our type of prayer today and every day, until the Lord pours out revival on us and on our world.
