Having Success in Life
I believe most people are trying to have success in their lives. Of course, that means different things to different people. To a person in a remote area of a poor country, success could be just having enough food and shelter to stay alive. If the same person were to live in a developed country, he or she might aspire to being a millionaire. Wherever we fall on this scale, we are looking for some form of success. Let's make sure we are really looking for the right kind of success. David outlined what every person needs to do to have success when he was challenging his son Solomon, as he was going to build the temple and become king of Israel. (I Chronicles 22:13) Since God has given us His Word, and His Word contains His wisdom and His directions for a successful life, we must begin by knowing the Lord and following His ways. Then, we must be strong and courageous, because life is not easy for anyone. Finally, we must guard against becoming afraid or discouraged, because those things will paralyze us and keep us from advancing as we should. See what I mean? That is the way to success for all of us.
God is a Good, Good Father. He wants what is best for all people, but especially for those who follow Him by trusting Jesus as Lord and Savior. We do not get to God by the works of the law of Moses, but those laws lead us to Jesus, if we understand them and apply them well. Then, we follow all of the directions in the New Testament to be good disciples of Jesus. That leads us to walk in the Spirit, trusting God and not trying to do life by ourselves. When we do that we will see success, because God has laid it out for us. We may not be wealthy and famous, but we will be content and at peace with God and others. Also, we must continue to trust God through all of the trials of life. This brings us to a spiritual strength and courage that is from the Lord. We are able to do things in His power that we could never do ourselves. When we live like that, loving the Lord fully that love will cast out fear, and we will not be discouraged, because we will know God is in control, and He is working all things together for our good. When we do life God's way, we have success, and He gets all of the glory and thanks. I pray we all will have success in life God's way.
