Made in God's Image

 Human beings are different from all other animals. We are made by God in His image. That means we have many of the same qualities of life God has, which enables us to have a personal relationship with Him. God puts a premium on human life because of this. After the days of the flood of Noah, God made His will known about taking the life of another human. (Genesis 9:6) God's command for us is that whoever sheds human blood by humans his blood will be shed, since we are all made in His image. Every human life is valued highly by God. Unfortunately, many people today do not understand this truth.

All sin is sin, and all sins are serious before God. However, some sins have more consequences and worse consequences than other sins. Murder has one of the worst consequences, since a life is snuffed out, never to exist in this world again. Therefore, God commanded a very severe punishment for anyone who takes a human life. God's decree is that "by humans his blood will be shed." Some people today, do not follow this command, because they are afraid that humans will convict the wrong person and an innocent person could be put to death. That is a terrible tragedy should that occur, but I believe, we still need to follow God's admonition. He gave us the authority to carry out the death penalty, so we should use that authority wisely and consistently. I also believe this truth applies to unborn humans. It is still taking a human life when an unborn baby is aborted. That is why I believe God would have us to abolish abortions in the USA. I pray we will all take seriously our responsibility as believers to stand up for the rights of those who are born and those yet to be born.
