Our Eyes Look to the Lord
We can tell a lot about a person from looking at their eyes. Of course, our eyes show emotion, so we can tell how a person is feeling by their eyes. However, there is another very important aspect of looking at the eyes of others. We can tell what they are looking at and often, we can see what they will do next. Yes, when our eyes are fixed on another person or thing, it shows what we are thinking about. The psalmist knew this truth well. (Psalm 123:2) The eyes of the servant are on his master, so he can tell what to do next quickly and well. The eyes of a maid are on her mistress, so she is ready to do whatever she desires. That is how our eyes should be as we look to the Lord our God. We should be ready to obey Him completely, until He is gracious to us. So, who are your eyes on now and most of the times?
We are not to only think of God when we are at church. That would be a disaster for our life. We should not be looking to the Lord just when we read our Bible and pray, either. Yes, we need to focus on Him then, but not only then. Our eyes should be looking to the Lord all of the time. In other words, we should be looking to the Lord constantly to see what He has for us to say and to do. We are to live in a constant state of being ready to do His will or to be a witness for Him. When we are looking to the Lord in this way, He knows it. He knows that our heart is ready to obey, so He does use us in accomplishing His will. It pleases the Lord when we look to Him and obey Him. This leads Him to be gracious to us and give us more than we deserve. He knows that when we are looking to Him all the time, we will be good stewards of our time and resources for His glory and the building of His kingdom. Let's make sure and never take our eyes off of the Lord.
