In the Morning

We all need to start off every day with the Lord. After all, it is more important to relate well to Him than anything else we will do that day. How do you begin your day? I would submit to you that the way you start off the day dictates the outcome of the rest of your day. If you have an empty start, your whole day will lack the essential elements for joy and peace. David knew this and he showed it in his psalms over and over. (Psalm 5:3) David started his day with the Lord. He longed to hear His voice, so he began by speaking with the Lord. Then, He was ready to see what happened the rest of his day. Let's do the same.

Of course, this blog focuses on have a daily "unhurried time" with the Lord. It has been such a joy for me personally to develop this spiritual discipline. I know it will do the same for you. In the morning we must spend that quality time with the Lord, listening for His still, small voice to direct us for the day ahead. For us to have a fruitful time with the Lord, we must order our prayer to include the right things, like David mentions here. It should include praise, thanksgiving, confession, as well as asking for us and for others. Then, once we have lifted our hearts to the Lord and asked for His direction and strength through His Spirit, we eagerly watch to see what He will do, so we can join Him in it. That is the formula for a great day, and it must start in the morning.
