God's Promise Fulfilled
God promised Moses that He would fight for the people so they could conquer the land of Canaan, if they would trust Him and follow His commands. The people failed to trust the Lord the first time He brought them up to the Promised Land. They had to wander in the wilderness for 40 years until all of them died. Then, the new generation was brought to the edge of the land of Canaan. They were faithful to move forward under the leadership of Joshua. Except for a few hiccups, they easily took over the whole land. (Joshua 11:23) This was the fulfillment of the promise made to Moses over 40 years before. God gave the land to Israel for an inheritance, just as He had promised Abraham many years before. What a powerful statement for all believers for all times! God is faithful to bring His promises to reality.
I wonder if we really trust the promises of God in the Bible that pertain to all believers? I believe if we would do that, we would see God work in great ways, just like He did for Israel. Also, do we really believe that God will fight for us to achieve what He has for our life, if we will follow His commands? If we truly believe that, we will see God bring to fulfillment a great deal of improvements in our lives. However, if we fail to follow the commands of God, because we do not trust Him to fight for us, we will wander in the wilderness of life. That is not God's will for any of us, as believers. However, faith in Him is the key. We must be willing to trust Him and move forward at His command. Then, when He sees our faith, He will fulfill His promises to us.
