It's Time to Decide
Some verses in the Bible are especially applicable to our situation today, and Joshua 24:15 is near the top of the list. Of course, the setting for this famous quote is that Joshua was about to die, so he was making his farewell address to Israel. He challenges them in many ways, so they might stay faithful to the Lord. Then, finally, he lays out the truth for them. They had to decide who they were going to serve, if they did not want to serve the Lord. They might choose the gods of their fathers beyond the Euphrates River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land they were living. However, as for him and his house, they were going to serve the Lord. The reality is that all of us need to make that decision, because pretty soon it seems like it is going to become much more difficult to follow the Lord.
In 2021 we find ourselves living in a country and in a world that seems to have decided not to worship the Lord of the Bible, the One True God, and His Only-Begotten Son, Jesus Christ. It is very unfashionable to be a Christian today. For most people it is better to worship anything else or nothing at all, except themselves. We all know everyone worships something or someone. Our worship is what or who we value enough to center our life upon. If we choose to reject God's revelation of Himself to us and to reject Jesus as the only Lord and Savior, the only way to the Father, then, we will face the eternal consequences of that wrong choice. Yes, we are free to choose, and we are free to do it our way here, but when we step into eternity, everything will be based on who we decided to worship. Please, don't go the way of this world! Listen for the voice of the Spirit drawing you to Jesus and put your trust in Him as your Lord and Savior once and for all, no matter what this world may decide.
