Jesus Ached to Embrace the Children of Jerusalem
Many times we forget that God has emotions. In fact, He feels very deeply. That is why we have emotions. We are made in the image of the Triune God. Love is not only an emotion to God. It is His nature. He loves all of us, and He desires what is best for us. His love compelled Him to send Jesus to pay for our sins, so we could be gathered into His family forever. Jesus even said as much when He went to Jerusalem to die for our sins. He mourned over the city that had murdered the prophets and killed those who had brought God's news. (Matthew 23:37) He ached to embrace the children of Jerusalem, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings. However, they would not let Him. They rejected Him and broke His heart. I wonder how Jesus is feeling today?
I believe that Jesus' heart is aching right now. He is seeing how many people are rejecting Him and His Good News. His heart is full of love for all of them, but He can't embrace them, because they won't let Him. Maybe that describes you. Please, stop holding back. Open your heart to the Lord Jesus and decide to love Him, so He can embrace you. The same should be true for all of us who know Jesus, and we are under His wing. Our hearts should be aching over those around us who need Him. We should be sharing the Good News with them, even if they are antagonistic, because Jesus is their only hope. I urge all of us, as believers, to ask Jesus to give us a heart that aches to see people come to the Lord and be eternally secure in Him.
