A Hiding Place in Tough Times
We are living in a very tough time right now. Our world and our country have all kinds of challenges and problems. There is fear over the Covid-19 virus. There is racial unrest all across the U.S.A.. We are in the midst of a very contentious election campaign, so that our country is divided, even bitterly divided. I can understand why some of us are anxious or even afraid. However, Nahum has a good word from the Lord for all of us. Nahum lived in a tough time himself. He had come to realize a great truth. God is good. He is a hiding place in tough times. He recognizes and welcomes anyone looking for help, no matter how desperate the trouble. (Nahum 1:7) Sounds like a verse that a lot of people need today.
God is good. He never sins. He always does the right thing. Even when we can't understand what He is doing or why He is allowing certain things to happen, we can know He is doing the right thing. We shouldn't question Him in that, because He knows all things, and our knowledge is very incomplete. God is ready to be a hiding place for us, a place where we can retreat from the stress of this world and find rest. He is there to hide us from the ugliness of this world and to show us the beauty of the kingdom of God. God recognizes and welcomes any of us who are looking for help. Of course, that means we are trusting Him to be our hiding place, our peace in tough times. When we do that we have His help, no matter how desperate our trouble my be. God is able to handle anything, in that we can depend. I pray we all will run to Him during this tough time and experience His rest and provision.
